The almost maxed-out configuration of the MacBook Pro 14 from 2021 has become considerably more affordable as a reputable online retailer has introduced a gigantic 39% discount for the Apple M1 Max-powered multimedia notebook.

Just think?

~$2500 + tax for a glued-in battery, no post-purchase upgradeability, no user-repairability, and baked-in planned obsolescence.

Steve Jobs would have been proud and even more proud of the media telling everyone this is a bargain!

Every tech company is doing this https://youtu.be/RIFQC8iA65k ?

🤔

I wonder why is Lenovo giving HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for all of their laptops then, with giving users freedom to replace a hell lot of things on their own, like battery. Here, the latest T14/P14s: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/t14_gen4_p14s_gen4_hmm_en.pdf - page 62 to see how easily and quickly is to replace the battery. Want to quickly and easily replace your SSD in under 3 minutes? Head over to page 66 and see how easy the whole process is. Now compare that with Apple's way of doing things.

Every tech company, right...

Completely disagree all tech companies are doing this.

HP Elitebooks and Lenovo Thinkpad products offer some of the best repairability and post-purchase upgradeability - two huge companies and then there is Framework, System 76, the list goes on.

I'm honestly shocked how well Apple has branded themselves and their products that people are now conditioned to pay exceptionally high prices for something that will only last a very short time due to intentional planned obsolescence via software update cycles or failing non-replaceable components.
