Solid-state battery maker ProLogium shuns US for US$6 billion factory as Americans are still on the fence about EVs

Just a quarter of the US public is looking to buy an electric vehicle compared to half of Europe and this statistic has weighed against a giant solid-state battery factory by ProLogium in the US. Instead, the Mercedes partner will build it in France with US$1.65 billion in grants at the R&D phase.

Great news, do not support the USA. Republican will ban EV's if they win office. Bunch of lunatics.

I think the biggest thing we're missing here is the cost of EVs versus the cost of a decent internal combustion engine vehicle.
If the cost reached  parity then I believe the majority would go with EVs.
Also, they need to have better infrastructure to support fast charging EVs.

Once those two goals are accomplished then EVs will take over completely or at least the majority.

What dumb Democrats fail to realize is all the facts involved! How do you dispose of the batteries once their shelf life is used up? Do they have a plan! No I didn't think so !

You think these stupid electrics are going to change the climate?
Absolutely NO! There's so much other pollution going into the atmosphere now from old wells and melting permafrost that spew millions of tons of CO2 into the air but worse than that is the methane which is so much worse than the CO2. Cars won't change a thing expect local smog possibly!!!!!

I'm not a Democrat, but frankly I'm embarrassed that many Republicans have made the decision to neglect our precious earth. And to answer your question, how do you dispose of EV batteries and do they have a plan? A plan is not needed because the ability to recycle the batteries is already in place. Google EV battery recycling. Calling people dumb before you do your own research just makes you look dumb.

So let's not do anything then and turn earth into Venus.

The direction is with good intent but the end is not feasible. Lithium based batteries are a dead-end. Not enough in the world to fully electrify cars let alone large scale storage for renewables.

But, that's not the real issue. Less than 100 corporations are responsible for over 70% of the total global carbon pollution. Most of them being oil companies who have been lying about their contribution to climate change for almost three decades. Until these companies are held accountable, all our other efforts will be in vain!

Again and again EV vehicles are draining taxes payers pockets.  Why goverment grant billions to those tech companies and deny student loan to 90% of our kids? Ev is not the future, ev is a old technology that didn't worked well before.  It's very limited range, takes hours to recharge, why are the denial of H2, also old technology but, by being internal explosion engines,ALL ENGINES CAN BE CONVERTED, no need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on new vehicles right way,but the scuses over the most available gas in the universe are somehow ridiculous, law makers are brought ou by lobbyists, and corporations have been dominant on all areas, education, religion, goverment, Healthcare etc.. they dictate who and what. Our vote doesn't matter  all elections are rigged,  all decisions are made by corporations and wall street. So wake up people.. our independence was sold out to those global corporations

The power grids in many areas are already pushed to their limits. If everyone starts buying electric cars there will be no way they can handle the extra load.

The historic smog levels in San Francisco are a testament as to how new technology and science can make a difference although they certainly can do better.  In the 60s and 70s it looked like a London fog in the day time.  Yes changes were made and people whined about it but the efforts made a difference.  The bigger polluters like the factories moved to where there are less regulations.  Emission controls on new cars became normal.  With a combined effort the air quality improved.  Unfortunately it still wasn't enough.  Kicking and screaming about it does nothing.  That is why we are where we are now.  We have been too slow to respond.

The big problem with EVs in the US is you can only get Teslas. The supply from other OEMs is limited with Customers waiting over a year to receive an ordered car. The US electric grid is already improving its infrastructure to support EVs and other demands so as the percentage of EVs increases the grid will be ready. The OEMs committed to moving from ICE vehicles to EVs before the Trump Administration fell into obscurity so this has nothing to do with Democrats and everything to do about good business practices of looking into the future and investing to be competitive in the future. The world's largest car market is rapidly moving to EVs right now and the OEMs know they have to have cars available to sell to Customers in that market. The US and Europe will be dragged along no matter the weeping and gnashing of teeth exhibited by Conservatives that can't see past the end of their nose.
