The BYD vs CATL Model Y versions fight is on as first owners of the blade battery pack with LFP cells from BYD report better charging performance. The Tesla Model Y with BYD battery managed to maintain peak charging speeds for longer than the current CATL version with LFP cells.

Looks like the Blade batteries are far superior to the cylindrical Panasonic batteries.  Higher density, safer, faster charging, longer lasting.

Considering that they are used on "standard" range and not on "long" range models, they are definitely not higher density. And looking at the charge rate it peaks at under 175kw where as the NCA cells go over 250kw

It is better than the CATL cells it seems though

LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) batteries - both BYD's "Blade" packages and CATL's boxes - have higher PACKAGING density - due to intrinsic safety and thermal stability you can put more cells in the same volume, compared to Lithium-Cobalt-Oxide, where cells must be spread and laced with cooling. Volumetric energy density of LCO cells (sic!) is still higher as of now - i.e. a cell without cooling is denser than the same size cell using LFP chemistry. There are other benefits to LFP though, including not needing cobalt, so the industry was pivoting towards that for some time now, what will happen now with promised Sodium cells entering the scene is anyone's guess.
