Lenovo is offering its new Yoga Pro 7 14 with the GeForce RTX 4050 laptop and a matte 3K display with 120 Hz and P3 color space coverage. This turns the compact 14-inch device into a powerful multimedia device that can also run the latest games.

This is the price of Legion 7 2022 with 6800H+6700XT in sales of fall 2022.

Where is 32-64GB of RAM, Lenovo? For 1700 euro I expect only such a volume in 2023 for this hardware and class. In addition, the memory is configured in bios extremely lousy for lpddr5 5200. The laptop is noisy, despite the strangled processor, consuming too much anyway in PL2/PL1.

The 3.5mm audio socket is located extremely inconveniently for right-handers. Why not 2 at the same time - left and right? Do you feel sorry for $5 for the second same jack?

Again, a fake response panel at "120Hz", which in reality barely pulls out the real 60Hz response in terms of content rendering speed. In addition, the screen with so-so contrast. Buyers were promised 1500:1+ in psref (psref.lenovo.com/Product/Yoga/Yoga_Pro_7_14IRH8):
14.5" 3K (3072x1920) None IPS 400 nits Anti-glare 16:10 1500:1 100% DCI-P3 85°/85°/85°/85° Refresh rate 120Hz (Max), Above 91.4% screen-to-body ratio, Eyesafe Certified 2.0, Dolby Vision

And why is there still no support for HDR10+ (Dynamic HDR version)? Why there is no HDR10 nameplate is understandable - not a single IPS panel, even with miniLED zone backlighting, satisfies it. But HDR10+ adapts flexibly to screen capabilities, just like semi-manual DV, but HDR10+ content creation is more automated...

Seems like recent inflation and rise in Nvidia GPU prices are affecting even more budget lineups like the Ideapad 7 series.

Asus VivoBook Pro 14 offers similar spec (albeit RTX 3050) for only 900 EUR, which is almost half the price of this Yoga Pro 7 14.

Understandably this is a very popular model and I get that, but that does not excuse being twice as expensive as its closest competitors.

You guys as usual give out high scores way too freely. I also don't know which universe 46DbA is considered "quiet" Quiet is anything under about 35DbA. Also who runs a screen at !00% brightness? Why would you even mention this brain dead setting let alone test it?

Honestly, a version with just a 13700H or 7840H(S) and no discrete GPU would be infinitely more desirable and far better value. 4050 is junk. More memory 32GB+, better performing ssd with higher capacity rather than GPU please.

Works remarkably well with Ubuntu 23.04 out of the box. Things checked and working:
-Wifi
-Suspend
-Webcam
-Microphone
-Sound
-Nvidia Graphics including switching to the built-in graphics. The RTX4050 works quick enough for darktable editing of 60 Mpx raw images.

Not working / did not really try:
-Function keys
