The Gen 8 Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is a 16-inch gaming laptop with understated looks and plenty of horsepower under the hood. At US$2,000 for an RTX 4070 GPU and a Core i7-13700HX CPU, the laptop may not be a tempting deal. Thankfully, you can now bring the price of this variant down by close to US$400 by stacking coupon codes at checkout.

In terms of use in the latest games, buying a laptop with the infamous 4070 is a waste of money amid a dramatic jump in performance from the 4080 and the much less noticeable 4090.

From the point of view of buying a universal laptop at home - Lenovo's L5Pro 2023 is a bad investment due to a significant downgrade compared to the 2022 line - there are no more TB4 / USB40 ports with eGPU, there is no longer a metal case - the bottom of the case is plastic, and evaporative there are no chambers in the cooling system.

Even in the L7 "Pro" 2023 lines, it is essentially a line for losers, because. it is significantly worse than the 2022 line - it no longer has RJ45 at 2.5Gbps and only one USB40 / TB4 port, not 2 as before. At the same time, the webcam can be generally shameful 720p, instead of 1440@60fps, to which some manufacturers have already switched. For some reason, the audio plug is moved to the right side, although when using a laptop on sofas and beds, it is extremely inconvenient for right-handed people - the headphone wire is always at hand with the mouse pad. And it is impossible to extend the 1.2-1.4m cords of in-ear headphones due to a certain design that affects the sound with extension cords.

In fact, Lenovo has nothing to offer customers in 2023, better than it was in 2022 and 2021. Its Legion line is declining to the decline of its past glory that thundered around the planet ...

I really don't understand the point of that trolling that almost each OEM goes with when webcams are in question; no matter how cheap or expensive their device is, no matter how big or small/slim bezels are there, one thing is almost 100% certain - it's going to have a garbage webcam that's comparable with laptops from 15 years ago.

I must admit it was a bit amusing at one point but now it just got boring because they still keep doing that over and over again. Hell 1080p with nice sensor and lens and 60 fps video is definitely possible to place in the smallest possible piece of bezel. At first there was excuse how modern expensive laptops can't do it because their bezels are too thin/small - then you see a cheap 150€ Xiaomi phone with even thinner bezels AND A WHOLE PHONE being thinner than just a lid of that expensive laptop... Packing 5-20 MP front/selfie camera with superior quality to any currently existing laptop webcam out there. What the actual hell?

There is no need for OIS, just a basic EIS will do more than enough, so no OIS = it can be superslim and small and it can be packed in a whole of damn mic near it on the top bezel. But nooo, let's push 720p over and over again until 2048 I guess. Comedy.

Hehe, while I agree factually, I could not care less about camera and would not miss one. (Or rather, my concern would be how to deactivate it.) I only care whether there is a) no notch and else b) no bump.

I agree with the other obversations on 2023 Legions. The competitors fail in one way or another so it would have been Lenovo's great chance to convince me. However, they have decided to even degrade their notebooks and underwhelm with the cooling. Not comedy but tragedy!
