The first generation of mass-produced sodium-ion batteries has been installed in a production electric car for the first time. The model is part of VW's joint venture Sehold brand in China and can cover 157 miles on a charge with the Na-ion battery that is much cheaper and safer than its lithium counterparts.

Very interesting, it's just very unfortunate for VW that Uncle Joe will soon force them to decouple from those Chinese companies, just like they've already forced them to decouple from the Russian ones. The Morgenthau plan is coming with just a few decades of delay.

It's not a big deal if it's only 25% cheaper, the optimization that Tesla is preparing on lithium batteries could yield similar cost savings.

Considering how abundant sodium is, it should be half the price of lithium batteries of similar density or less.

This is exciting news.  In the next few years electric cars will really gain in popularity.  We are Canadian but also live in China, EVs are everywhere in Heifi.
