Lenovo has equipped the Legion Pro 7 gaming laptop with the latest Intel 13th gen processor and the second-best Nvidia RTX 40 Series Laptop GPU, the RTX 4080. We evaluate Lenovo's latest high-end gaming laptop and see what's improved from the previous generation.

It's interesting that the Razer Blade 16 is cheap in comparison. Look at the prices in both models. Razer with 4080 costs $3299, this Legion bumps up at $4000 with the same specs.

Legion 7 with 3080Ti 16GB was in stock for €2500 for a whole year here. Now we get a €4000 laptop with 12GB VRAM.
What are they smoking at NVidia?

It's ugly. Literally speaking a computer could hardly get any uglier at this price point, and the performance is inferior to the Razer.

If so then that price would make all the downsides at least somewhat justified.

Too expensive. And noise on simples tasks.

Basically unless a very specific need there is no reason to get this overmatch CPU.

OK Optix Blender GPU value of 15 sec in Classroom test.

Blade 16 is around $950 more expensive currently in the US. that lenovo can be had for $2649 whereas the blade 16 is $3599. and its even cheaper on the lenovo website when it comes back in stock, you can get it for as low as $2200 if you stack discounts and rakuten. the razer may be nicer but theres no way its $950 (or more) nicer.

Obviously, in 2023, Lenovo has lost its "drive" and is no longer able to make better laptops. True, there are practically no alternatives, in terms of the totality of characteristics...

Hot, very noisy and completely pointless for such a price instead of a desktop that will just be 2 times faster and quieter at times. Previously, L7/L5Pro were a kind of universal solution, taking into account manual control of coolers, to work primarily in low-end configurations. But now this is some garbage not suitable either for games (new projects this model will not pull 100% at 60fps+) or for quiet work, having full upgrade options, a good keyboard and a set of ports. The screen clearly no longer meets the requirements of 2023 - at least 4k@120Hz.

16" is not enough. At this weight, no one will actively carry it around. This is a home laptop. It needs an 18" 4k@120Hz panel with a contrast ratio of 2000:1+. And of course, the cooling system, which is up to 40% at least in terms of the load on the cores, does not turn on coolers at all in a balanced mode. But with the new monstrosity Raptor Lake consuming 1.5 times more than my overclocked 95W desktop processor, it's out of the question.

We are waiting for restrictions from the authorities on the consumption of laptops for US/EU. Maximum 100W. This will be a good thrashing for the entire IT industry. Suppose that with a total consumption of 100W, they show us progress in performance. If they can't, sales will be reset...

I wonder if the speaker testing is wrong. It's hard to imagine that it can be improved so much without any hardware changes from last year. In this case, it is even better than the 6-speaker blade 18, which is puzzling.

I find the price they listed odd, i ordered mine the day of release directly from Lenovo and only paid $2700 for the same spec. This replaced an alienware m15 R7 and i found this to be much queiter in all situatiosn, even play hogwarts on my lap i was suprised by how quiet the fan was in performance mode, no head phones needed. But the alienware was loud no matter what you are doing.

I wonder if NotebookCheck don't do laptop disassembly anymore? Haven't seen any photos of the internal in recent reviews like before, that's disappointing.

I just got one and scored 18777 on 3dmark timespy. I believe that this laptop swiftly beats the blade 16 2023 in most cases.

$2649 for mine and I love it. MSFS all ultra in 4K with ray tracing 80 fps. Fans ramp up but not the typical high pitch sound. More like a desktop. I'm a new fan of Lenovo
