Although the new mobile RTX 4090 GPU is still limited to 175 W TGP, it still manages to score slightly more points in 3DMar's Time Spy test over the 400+ W RTX 3090 Ti with a bit of tinkering. The generational leap in efficiency is quite astounding thanks to the jump from 8 nm to 4 nm transistors.

Absolutely meaningless "news". The 4090M might barely outperform the 3090 Ti, but for an extremely short period of time during a synthetic benchmark, before the limited cooling on a laptop would drop the frequency significantly. It's practically impossible to sustain a huge overclock that would fill the gap between a 3080 Ti and a 3090 Ti on mobile for any meaningful period of time that would result in an actual uplift that can be benefitted from in the real world.

Like, Sure, you got a high benchmark score. Now what? You know damn well you will never be able to replicate those numbers in a gaming session or an actual work load.

You most certainly can sustain those clocks during gaming on these laptops. Educate yourself.

Yeah. GPU's don't push the thermal envelope like a CPU if the cooling system is well done. My 3060 is more than 20ºC cooler that the 5800H despite 130w vs 80w.

According to the first results, I immediately wrote that the mobile 4090 is slightly faster than the 3080Ti.

Therefore, playing on "gaming" laptops is stupid. Slow, noisy and dangerous for hardware. Generally stupid.

Buy desktop solutions if you want to be at the forefront of progress.

Excuse my audacity, but maybe you are forgetting what site you are on?

Nobody forgets this but, Bogdan, what x64 notebooks do you suggest for: not too slow dGPU, rather silent and with longevity?

Can't really recommend something without first seeing how the RTX 4060 / 4070 and AMD's 780M dGPUs perform.

Why are desktop users like you so dumb?
