Lenovo has announced the Legion Pro 7 and Legion Pro 5 gaming laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 7950HX/Ryzen 9 7845HX processor, GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards, up to 32 GB RAM and a 2 TB NVMe SSD.

As Jarrod@Youtube has remarked, the new Pro line replaces the former non-Pro line. I do not recall its specs, but you would know: do you think that it is still a downgrade or did both old and new specs have shortcomings besides missing USB 4?

If you also look at the Lenovo Legion 7i Pro Gen 8 also they have downgraded them as well, removed thunderbolt and fingerprint sensor.
In my opinion the new 34l desktop looks amazing, but like the laptops they have cut back on

No 4k@60Hz webcam in L7 (should be 1440p@60 in L5Pro and 1080@60 in L5)

It came to complete disgrace in the L7Pro line - beggarly 720p web-cams appeared in it! It's a shame!

Cut out USB40/TB4 in L5Pro, despite the fact that TB4 port is even in $600 office models! It's a shame! TB4/USB40 must be in ANY laptop with i3/R3+2023. Even the Intel Atom Gold has a built-in TB4 controller!

Screens - why not a universal 4k@120Hz, which can be easily switched in fhd@120Hz mode without loss of picture sharpness, as is the case with a 2.5k screen? Well, what kind of nonsense is it to install idiotic 2.5k panels when 4k@120Hz(~180-200$ in retail) have been sold since 2021 . We need ppi above 250 when working with text! You can play in fhd mode!

I note a very helpful and interesting comment from a Dell representative(arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/01/dells-new-ultrasharp-monitor-is-a-6k-powerhouse-for-pros/) about what advanced screen users want:

...When we saw it at a press event, a company spokesperson said the monitor's form factor is based on power users' preference for 220–260 pixels per inch (ppi) in high-end notebooks. Dell wanted to incorporate that same level of pixel density in a 32-inch-class screen, a popular size among its users...

And I always wrote that 220-230 ppi is the minimum. Years ago, based on my empirical experience. In reality, you need from 400 ppi and above to completely eliminate pixelation at any distance from the screen. Owners of smartphones with ppi above 400 have long been aware of this fact.

A small mistake here. That model number would imply that we have a mobile Zen 5 based CPU. It's 7945. Not 7950. That's a current desktop CPU model, not a mobile model.
