The California-based OEM ViewSonic has announced that its X1 and X2 FHD LED short-throw projectors are the first to attain the new TÜV SÜD certification for eye protection for their category of display devices. Therefore, ViewSonic can now say that the projectors' up-to-100 inch output can be enjoyed by users of all ages without fear of fatigue or discomfort, despite their high brightness ratings.

lol, TUV's getting funnier by the day. Did anyone(buyer) ever ask for such a "certification"? Projectors have long been marketed as eye-friendly because they utilize "reflected light" instead of "emitted light", but I strongly suspect it's pseudo-science because, well, an optical path is reversible, also because I've seen no publication with some actual credibility back it up, they may as well be obfuscating it with the dim brightness and/or low contrast of a projection depending on circumstances. And, the elephant in the room: a DLP with a color wheel flickers at a few hundred hz, no getting around that, hybrid models like Sony's and JVC's are better...but they're rarely of the sort in discussion, price-performance also remains poor despite the whole display technology going obsolete very quickly...so who cares about "blue light" from projectors again?!
