One of the key specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ phones has apparently been confirmed, and it might be seen as something of a baffling choice for some fans. While the Galaxy S23 series will supposedly be treated to upgrades like a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and up to a 200 MP camera sensor, the RAM amount will remain unchanged.

Crazy that my s20 has 10gb and samsung has been downgrading the total amount over 3 years.

It's a smartphone not a PC. Lol

Actually, it is a PC, or at least it can be. I use Samsung DeX as my only computing platform (it has improved massively in the last 5 years). I've done a few stress tests on it with several heavy productivity apps running simultaneously on the monitor in their own windows with projects loaded in. (Nomad Sculpt, KineMaster, Krita, Cubasis 3, etc). It doesn't even studder. Smartphones are incredibly powerful, and they can be our single device that does everything. It's very convenient and saves a lot of money. It's too bad this idea gets so little attention.

Your s20 has 8gb... the only way it would have more is with Samsung's "Ram Plus" feature which likely will be available on the s23 as well.

Not to mention the processor on the s23 will be much more powerful and efficient, so the extra ram may not be necessary.

I tried DEX about 6vyears ago. It was worthless. I can't remember the limitations but it was very obvious within 5 minutes of use it couldn't compete with modern workstations at the time.

I would take a look again, but just jumped off Samsung for life as a phone platform. If they can't release Android security updates within a month orfrelease, I don't want them anymore.

Pixel it is.
