A cost breakdown analysis of Tesla's recent announcement that it is removing the ultrasonic sensors on all of its cars pegged the savings at about U$114 per car together with the integrated circuits. That's more than US$100 million in annual savings per million vehicles, but relaying solely on Tesla Vision comes with its own set of problems.

Hahaha. What a stupid car company actively sabotaging itself especially in the China region where everyone else uses LIDAR.  Especially Huawei self-driving solution probably the top dog in China and relies mostly on LIDAR only.

There could be like 1000 sensors but why wjen computer see more, faster, better than you and with multiple times of your field of vision.
Its also way more easy to program and use in different tech, like robots etc.
Vision only works for humans so well, that we can see from atoms to black hole.
I'm in support of that idea.

ZzZzZzZ.  You guys know that China has the best vision tech in the world right?  Just go to China, can track you anywhere by face recognition.  Now, why the country with best vision tech choose to go full LIDAR for self-driving?  The world and especially China laughing at Tesla dumb move...

Also they are updating cameras from 1.2 to 5mp resolution. So I am thinking where is the saving ?
