The Samsung Galaxy M53 has a generous display size of 6.70 inches, and it comes with a microSD slot, two features that are now rare in the mid-range. In this review, we'll take a look at everything else that the Samsung smartphone with a MediaTek SoC can do.

I wonder when Samsung will finally decide to put DC Dimming on their screens. It's about time they do. Even ASUS is doing it.

Have M51... and there is still no good successor - new versions (M52, M53) have smaller battery and only minor improvements

This is the perfect phone to showcase Samsung's Fab vs TSMC fab powers. The M53's Dimensity 900 has the same cores and GPU on TSMC 6nm vs A53's Exynos 1280 on Samsung 5nm. And you can see in the energy consumption charts, it uses 20% more power under load to achieve the same performance. The batteries are also the same 5000mAh capacity, but the A53 clocks 20% less battery under load.

This is why people are blaming Samsung for Snapdragon 8 gen 1 problems. TSMC can't fix everything of course (some of the blame is on ARM A710 and on Qualcomm), but Samsung fab is pretty much 2 generations behind TSMC on efficiency.

As TSMC's capacity freeing up due to AMD and NVidia orders dropping off, Samsung fab will have a harder time to find customers. I suspect Samsung will be shifting more of their upcoming phones to use Exynos to cushion the hit to their earnings.
