The product design relationship between Apple and Jony Ive has finally come to an end. The former executive at Cupertino was responsible for the distinctive looks of the MacBook line, but has only been a consultant to the OEM since 2019. Ive's contract for this role has now expired, and his former employer has declined to renew it.

When an arrogant person is having a conversation and bragging about how many Ferraris' he has, with average employees and consumers, yeah, he needs to be somewhere else at his level. 😏

This is a strange position to take. I may not like a lot of things about Apple, but I will concede their products do have distinctive and aesthetic designs. Whether the designer has an ego or not seems broadly irrelevant.

Remind me of StarFox by Nintendo. They had the best music composer for the original SNES game.  After they let him go, subsequently releases of StarFox became worse and worse.

Sure, a lot of people are arseholes, but you lose the magic in the product(s) if you let him go...

A shame, but to be honest Ives was something of a one-trick pony who was focused solely on making devices thinner and thinner even if it made the product worse in all regards
