The experimental and rather futile processor upgrade to the Apple M2 chip illustrates that the almost identical logic board of the new 2022 MacBook Pro 13 cannot simply be used in the chassis of the M1-equipped predecessor from 2020.

Can they not just rip the firmware off the other board and flash it into there? Similar to cross flashing bios? Or ubsolder the firmware chip and swap it for the other one? 

I guess jtag or whatever isn't possible in this scenario. Because clearly they somehow got the Os/fw into there

He still owns both, do they work (now) with the organs back in the correct bodies?

I get that this was a hack (for science?) not a money saver.
