Apple "misled people" and slowed devices "by up to 58%": Activist files £750 million lawsuit against Apple over throttling

Apple has found itself at the other end of a £750 million lawsuit over the company throttling older iPhones in 2017. The lawsuit filed by Justin Gutmann, a consumer rights activist, alleges that Cupertino intended to hide the subpar performance of older iPhone batteries by not warning users about the throttling beforehand.

I don't care for Apple, and I think what they did with this was wrong and they deserved much more than the slap on the wrist they got, but this:

Gutmann claims that "Instead of doing the honorable and legal thing by their customers and offering a free replacement, repair service or compensation, Apple instead misled people by concealing a tool in software updates that slowed their devices by up to 58%."

is ridiculous. I have no issue with this lawsuit; in fact, I'm all for it. But Gutmann's view of what's honorable and legal seems very warped, to think that a company should provide free replacements for years old products because, well, they're old.
