Since some manufacturers were threatening to outcompete Samsung in the budget smartphone segment, a Galaxy phone with real upgrades was needed. The Samsung Galaxy A13 fulfills this requirements, for the most part...

No, because AX3 series are stupid. Almost all of them are downgrade from previous version

New era with no 3.5mm jack even in the entry segment. Thanks, but no, thanks - I prefer the old era.

It costs about $60; there's a 5G version available in the US, as mentioned in the article, but it uses the MediaTek Dimension 700 5G. The 4G version re-uses once again the Exynos 850, a SoC that debuted in 2019 and was already underwhelming back then. The 4G version goes for $189, the 5G version goes for $249, which pushes it above the sub$200 range.

Just in case it wasn't clear in the previous post, the 4G/5G modem in both versions is integrated in the SoC.

On a related note, I don't really see this phone as the beginning of a new era, the SoC kills any kind of improvement that they have made on other aspects of the phone. Samsung needs to stop using its Exynos SoCs, it'll never be too late, even Unisoc has proved to be more competent at designing ARM solutions than Samsung.
