The Sony Xperia 5 IV will succeed the Xperia 5 III as Sony's smaller flagship phone for the year. A new leak has now revealed more details of the device, with one notable takeaway being Sony's apparent intention to equip the phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus instead of a regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

I wonder if this means the phone wont be released until the second half of 2022 ?

Of course, Sony will announce them at MWC but then take about 4-5 months to release them. Which brings us to the second half of the year.

They are very good phones. But hopefully they match Samsung in offering 3-5 years of software updates.

Actually i was hoping they would continue the way they did with the sony xperia pro-i which once revealed was available 1 month later and instead of the incredible shitty way they have been doing it for years.

There is no way sony is going to match samsung in terms of that many software updates they still barely only offer 2 years...

Pro-i was the first time Sony was ever on time w/ their release. I hope it continues in the upcoming generation.
