Price predictions for both the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT have been offered up by a YouTuber who focuses their channel mostly on graphics cards. Estimates for the RTX 4090 and RX 7900 XT come in at just under US$2,000, with the AMD Navi 31-based card expected to outperform the Lovelace AD102 GPU-powered rival.

Graphically Challenged is a channel with hardly any substantial contents, almost exclusively repeating rumours found elsewhere. Like Classical Technology, he belongs to those Youtubers cultivating the idea of unavoidable ever-increasing GPU prices paving the ground for even more greed by the GPU manufacturers, distributers and retailers. A few other Youtubers suggest the same next as previous GPU generation prices because of the AMD / Nvidia competition and increased wafer production. Some have pointed out the drastic long-term price increments. Nobody suggests decreasing prices due to then necessary great production rates.

By repeating the worst rumours, NBC contributes to the manufacturers' greed.

Honestly it doesn't make sense to blame amd or nvidia for the prices unless you want them to ask for your id before they give you the card.
It's not an artificially created 'deficiency'.
Nvidia had been distracted by it's ARM acquisition which failed and amd has been dirt poor to meet the demands and still trying to buy Xilinx.
The prices are indeed too much and are bound to come down at some point of time. As long as there is increased performance and efficiency, I think it's forgivable. As long as they don't release abominations like 6500XT that is.
Or do what intel did by never trying to give more than 4 cores when there was no competition.

Sometimes i feel like these leak YouTube channels are one of the reasons of pc hardware price jump, many of them are already sponsored by AIBs so it might be possible that they use those channels to test whereas how people would react to these info and based on those reactions they manage their margin on their products

With the power consumption of the 4000 series, lets see if they even make it till the AMD release... I don't even understand why these cards are compared, when one will need a nuclear reactor to power... Power bills and dealing with the heat will make the Nvidia a far worse investment...LMAO
