The content stalwarts Discovery and Warner Media are to form one content platform soon, as the former has now acquired the go-ahead to buy the former from US regulators. The merger could lead to a singular mega-streaming service that offers channels such as Animal Planet as well as those such as HBO. Then again, the prospective parent company has yet to confirm its direction once it has made its acquisition.

What strikes me about this consolidation is not so much the consolidation, which is bad, but that 4 companies that have history and resources are giving up so soon! Netflix has been working on their position for  a decade and they still have shaky results. Discovery + HBO is a lot easier to understand than CBS+NBC for that reason. Discovery and HBO were always small fry. But to give up so easy, when all 4 platforms are fairly young, have been subject to upheavel, and haven't given it their 'best shot', that I understand not at all.

All three steaming platforms need to be combined.  HBO Max, Discovery Plus and Boomerang.

Peacock and Paramount+.. are not merging streaming services in America.... But for the rest of the world they are it will be called skyShowtime.... It's going to be their international streaming service... But they did sign a content agreement for Paramount+ and peacock to share content.. and ViacomCBS also signed one with Amazon / epix
