The Federal Cyber Security Authority, Germany's cybersecurity watchdog, has failed to find any evidence that Xiaomi is censoring certain words from its smartphones. In September 2021, Lithuania alleged that Xiaomi smartphones automatically censor words such as "Free Tibet" and "democracy movement".

The Germans already told Lithuanian government to fix their relationships with China or they won't do business.  So of course they didn't find anything that would compromise China.

Does it really matter if Xiaomi does? We know western agencies do this, so what does it change? If anything I feel more comfortable with having the Chinese snoop on me, as I will never go to China anyway

It's important to not be quick to board a ban train for Chinese brands or spy train for ISP. Think first.

Gotta love the Germans, you say something silly like Lithuania did, rather than laughing it off like everyone else they look at you with a straight face and proceed to test whether you're right or not.

Only idiots believed the original Lithuania report anyway. It was obvious they were politically motivated... but nonetheless are they going to pay damages for such false accusations?

I doubt anything will become of it. And really goes to show increasingly rife propaganda is on any side of the world.
