Hyundai might drop combustion engines, but hydrogen cars remain in the cards

Shortly after a report concerning the (unconfirmed yet) decision to cease developing combustion engines, it was rumored that Hyundai has decided to halt the development of a third-generation fuel cell stack for hydrogen cars. The company has just denied this rumor, but it might offer a full electric lineup starting next year or in 2023, at least for a few months.

Battery electric vehicles are a stopgap "until fuel cell vehicles take hold."
Yes. fuel cell vehicles will take hold because oil companies will support them using their existing business model — the same one they have for gasoline and diesel filling stations. Those who remain unconvinced should heed the words of Angela Needle:
"Efficiency is not the only value driver for a working energy system, you've got to look at resilience – is the energy always there when we need it? We've got to look at consumer behavior and needs – the cost of disruption of getting everybody to install an electric solution over hydrogen. Is it worth it and does it get us [to net zero] at the pace we need?"

Good luck trying to use an EV in hot weather or in winter after a few years, when the battery will probably die on you and cost literally gold to replace.

The real solution for less use of oil is the hybrid approach makers like Toyota did with the Prius. It doesnt solves the battery issue, but at least you will not be left with an useless car.

Gasoline and diesel vehicles will be forced off the highways very soon because of medical reasons. The latest studies from NIH, NASA and dozens of other universities have found viral infections such as Covid are much higher near highways. The three culprits are elevated nitrogen dioxide, PM2.5 and benzo(a)pyrene.  Of course just driving on the highway increases this problem for everyone.

Subsequent testing shows these chemical compounds increase formation of ACE2 receptors in the lungs. This is a major health threat because increased ACE2 was recently shown to increase the severity and risk of death from Covid-19.
