We already know that the latest Ryzen 7 U-series CPUs can outperform the latest 11th gen Core i7 U-series CPUs in many instances, but the differences are skewed even further in AMD's favor when moving down to the Ryzen 3 vs. Core i3 budget category.

What, me worry?

I assume that Alder Lake 2+8 will smash up a quad-core Cezanne or Rembrandt in single and multi-threaded. Alder Lake 80-96 EU iGPU vs. less-than-12-CU Rembrandt might be more interesting.

What about the i3-1125G4? It has 4 cores + 8 threads, and seems to be a better comparison to the Ryzen 5300U.

i3-1125G4 laptops are usually configured to make use of 28W of power.
And it's turbo boost speeds are lower.
And they offer uhd graphics rather than xe.
So for the same price bracket, it's better to go for Ryzen 3 5300u.
And usually intel tax would make laptops costlier.
And 5400u is the one if you're looking for the actual contender. That's Zen 3. (Actually Zen 3u might be slower than zen 2 @ 15 W)

Different price segment. In the same price segment of the i3-1125G4 you can find a Ryzen 5 5500U (6 cores) or an i7 4700U.

Wrong. For instance, HP 15s with i3-1125G4 is considerably cheaper than the same chassis w/ 5500U. Ryzen 5 are waaaay premium in EMEA. Even Ryzen 3's start @ $530; drop a single dollar from that price, and all you get is an Athlon Gold "Dali".
AMD must think they're a boutique brand.
