The OnePlus 9RT arrives in China and India later this week with a Snapdragon 888 SoC and up to 12 GB of RAM. OnePlus has confirmed that the device will support 600 Hz touch sampling and up to 7 GB of virtual RAM, too.

Virtual RAM is trash, nobody wants it.

If you have 12 GB of RAM on your phone, you already have more than enough.

"Virtual RAM", is just using part of the SSD as extra RAM. It's not only substantially slower than RAM, modern NAND SSD's can wear out if you're constantly writing to them.

And Android already has a technology that allows you to open background programs faster than if you always started them from scratch: it's called cache, and it's already stored in NAND.

This is just a marketing move that does nothing, but of course tech journalists who are horrified of the concept of running out of things to write about will think it's relevant.
