An Intel Core i9-12900 Alder Lake chip has been spotted being tested on an Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Extreme motherboard. The upcoming 16-core, 24-thread processor somehow managed to obliterate performance records on UserBenchmark, easily surpassing the average bench and 1-core scores of the Intel Core i9-11900K.

It's worth noting that the benchmarks themselves on UBM are extremely accurate. It's the "effective speed" titbits and the CPU descriptions favouring Intel that people get frustrated about.

Nobody showed userbenchmarks tests to be bad. They disagreed with their editorial decisions (how they weighted results to come to conclusions). Individual tests should be fine
