Xiaomi appears to be shipping some phones in Europe with a feature that potentially allows the detection and censoring of anti-Chinese Communist Party phrases. The feature is, of course, turned off but that's unlikely to assuage doubts.

"The real question here is: should you be scared if you own a Xiaomi device? Well, no. Phones ship with all sorts of code and it's not at all surprising that a Chinese company ships phones running software that complies with its countries policies. The morality of those policies is an entirely different conversation. The feature is also turned off, so owners of Xiaomi phones in Europe have nothing to be afraid of. The fact that it can be turned off remotely means nothing as well, as OEMs have always been able to enable features via OTA updates. "

Next, NotebookCheck will tell us to give in our info to the CCP, because we are not in China, so we have nothing to be afraid of.

Stop trying to spin this as something "innocent".

99.999% of us will never go to China so I frankly dont care. What I do care about is our local spy services like the CIA, FBI and MI5 having backdoors built into every device and microprocessor sold in the west

The Chinese couldnt do anything to me except at worst deactivate my device, if I communicate something controversial (eg anti clotshot messages). Local agencies however can use that info against you and jail you

If it comes down to it, id rather have a Chinese phone and have the Chinese spy on me, rather than have an Apple phone, and have the US gov spy on me

Not "innocent" in my opinion either. And a moment of clarity in how I view notebookcheck.  Reviews in depth, no punches pulled?
No longer.

You sure r3tard?

Don't worry. It is only used to fight non-CCP approved misinformation, which hinder our progress to recover from the pandemic and threaten stability.

Say that to the spy agencies. If they want and they can, they will come and get you. But seeing how retarded you are, I really doubt you are worth their time
