LG plans to sell iPhones in its South Korean physical stores, against Samsung's wishes

The collapse of LG's smartphone business implies a future of glaring gaps on shelves in its signature "Best Shops" on the streets of the OEM's native country. The company might fill them with products that, surprisingly, come from a prime rival: Apple. However, Samsung has taken issue with this plan, claiming it contravenes a prior arrangement between it and its fellow South Korean giant.

Hanzzz

What is wrong with South Korea? Do they allow monopolies and anti competitive corporate collusions?
This news is bizarre to say the least.

LG acts like a troubled teenager now. That's low of them.
No wonder they did not manage to make their mobile division profitable. They act like spoiled brats sometimes.

It seems to me LG is possibly going to screw themselves by doing this, but it's hard to say. By offering iphones, that will likely increase the number of iphone users, which will cause people to convert to that ecosystem, which will result in a loss of sales in their tablet and laptop division as well. Then again, it's possible most of their sales of iphones will be to people already using Apple devices, and any small loss will be made up for by Apple paying them to stock their stuff.

Either way, it's not LG acting like a "teenager/spoiled brat." Samsung is the one getting upset because they're going to have more competition, and trying to insist LG hold themselves down for Samsung's benefit.
