The 2021 MacBook Pro 16 may not be the performance upgrade we expect from Apple

According to a new report, the next MacBook Pro 16 will feature an Apple M1 chip, not a more powerful next-generation model. Any design changes will be on the minor side too, resulting in the 2021 edition looking basically the same as its 2019 predecessor. Minor changes could include a switch to a flat design and the return of legacy ports though, along with slimmer display bezels for the new model.

The best combination is a macbook chassis with Ryzen 5000U CPU and Redeon graphics card. Which can offer enough horse power and power efficient enough and also will be compatible with x64 softwares and drivers.

That won't be able to provide anything near the power consumption of M1..., which also means that it won't be able to deliver the same battery life as M1. Plus, M1 can already support almost, if not all, non-native code due to Rosetta 2, which delivers around 70-80% of the amount that M1 can do with native code, which is very impressive.

"If that is the case, then we struggle to see how Apple could distinguish the performance of the next MacBook Pro 16 from the current MacBook Pro 13"

It will distinguish the same way as always. Obviously reinventing the wheel is a waste of time. The problem was CPU and it is fixed now.

So a macbook 16 with just 2 ports? Lol, surely not happening, people would throw it to apples head unless the price is like the 13 inch mbp

This story is BS, end of story, maybe the rumour is designed to encourage sales non mac products leading up to the release. Apple will release MacBook Pro 14 first with next iteration of M Processor. The MacBook Pro 16 will come second with the same or better version of the processor. Releasing an M1 for MacBook Pro does not allow for sufficient separation between models in performance to justify the price premium. A glorified 16 inch MacbookAir is not what consumers are looking for and I cannot see Apple even considering it.
