A proposed North Dakota law will force Apple and Google to allow developers alternative options for distributing iOS and Android apps, respectively. The bill will also allow developers to receive in-app payments through any method they choose, not just through the app's respective app platform.

It's an excellent initiative, but I doubt that a Democratic controlled government would actually pass anything similar, it would indirectly make life a bit easier for platforms like Parler and Gab (God forbid that people could speak freely in the USSA!)

This is the better way to deal with these kinds of issues, through legislation instead of the courts. And these kinds of things have gone on far too long and should have been dealt with years ago. It's ridiculous how bad the FTC, AGs, etc have allowed things to get. And the good news is, all it would likely take is one state, maybe two, to have a real effect, since Google/Apple/etc aren't likely going to do things differently just in those jurisdictions. Of course, even if they pass the law, I'm sure these companies will go to court and fight them, which is another reason more states and countries need to follow suit.
