NVIDIA has taken matters into its hands and has intervened on how OEMs advertise its RTX 30 series laptop GPUs. OEMs will now be required to disclose their RTX 30 series laptops' TGPs and clock speeds, but NVIDIA has removed TGP values from its official release drivers.

That is some great news right there. Now companies like Razer or MSI will be forced to explicitly advertise the TGPs and clock speeds.

However, one thing I am wondering about is when exactly will they do so. Are they forced to display them as soon as possible or will they stall for time ? Hmm.

Bravo, the Independent Media Outlets, mainly big Youtube Channels and Notebookcheck yourself who called out this behavior from the beginning, are the real heroes here.

Of course retail marketing, both online and offline are still not required to list the TGP Wattage, so general consumers who bought the 3080 laptops getting 3060 performance will still happen, but less often if they did the research.

Great news! A band-aid has been applied to the mangled limb that is Nvidia's product naming scheme.

They could have gone with U, L and H designations - Ultra-low, Low and High. That a 3060H outperforms a 3080U is more instinctively reasonable than some stuff about TGP.

Instead, they opened with an obviously consumer-abusive scheme, and have now modified it to one that appeases us nerds a little while remaining utterly hostile to people who don't study this stuff.
