More Ryzen 5000 Vermeer Zen 3-based desktop processors from AMD have been leaked in the forms of the Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800. Both chips seem to offer high boost clock rates at comparatively low TDPs; however, it has been suggested that the Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 will end up being OEM-only SKUs.

Seriously? Shouldn't you be enlightening people rather than spreading nonsense? Practically speaking, TDP and boost live in different universes. Really, TDP is just marketing mumbo jumbo. What really matters in the end, is price and how good is the piece of silicon you're getting (that's what dictates efficiency and performance potential). And of course, what the manufacturer allows it to do. If it's cheaper, the silicon probably won't be better. Such processors can be interesting if they're not too crippled, but because of price (they can offer good value), not TDP.

OEM doesn't mean that you can't get one. It means that they are sold in bulk trays rather than retail packaging. There are always (and always have been) places that order trays and split them up to sell, usually on eBay these days.

The downside is that they usually aren't much cheaper than retail, and said retailers are going to mark them up to the point where they aren't worth buying. Your best bet is to call around to local small computer sales places and see if they will sell you one. They still won't be cheap, but at least you can avoid the "eBay tax".
