Xiaomi is billed to launched the Mi 11 Pro soon and a new report has now tipped the upcoming flagship to make at least one major improvement over the Mi 11 that was released last week. Yes, the Mi 11 Pro is expected to ditch the 108 MP on the Mi 11 in favor of a more sophisticated sensor.

All of these phones use the EXACT same Samsung HMX 108MP sensor - Mi 10, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 11 AND Samsung Note 20 Ultra.
You're bashing the sensor that's used in Note 20 Ultra as "old" and not so good any more? Whereas in reality this sensor is larger (1/1.33 in) than sensors in all other flagships. Ridiculous...

The Mi Note 10, Mi 10, Mi 10T, Mi 11 use the HMX. The limitations of the HMX are well-known at this point.

The S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra use the HM1 which has nonacell binning.

The "aging" 108MP camera, are you effin serious or have the slightest clue about what you are talking about? That is literally one of the most modern camera sensors money can buy. It now how different resolutions available, but for FFS that doesn't make the 108MP "aging" -- not even by a giant stretch of imagination!

If this one is "aging" what that eff do you call all Sony and Omnivision sensors still in some of today's flagships? It really is sad how NBC is going down the drain.

Wut? Are you serious? Its the Same Sensor in the Mi10/10Pro, Note 10, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra. Xiaomi is just using Pixel Binning 4to1(27MP) and Samsung 9to1(12MP) .And this Sensor is just one year "old". Its one year old and for you already old?
Thats dumb, you could say this to every other Phone. Also it is only one year old, it didn't even reach its full Potential. Imagine how insane the HMX 108MP will be after another year with the nearly perfect software for it. Look at Google Pixel. They are using the same Sensor of the Pixel 3.. after 3 years! And they are still able to improve their photo quality because they are gods when it comes to software. Software and the Features are more Important than just using another Sensor every year. This wouldn't even improve the camera quality when a company is using a new Sensor everytime and doing their best during a few months on the software. What would be better? Using the Same Sensor again and having Like another full year( one and a half at all) for Software optimisation and getting more out of it or just using another Brand new Sensor, having no experience and Know-how about it with only having 2 months for Software?
Apple is using nearly the Same Sensors for years. Samsung ist using the Same Sensors for years but now Xiaomi gets the hate for using a great Sensor for only the second time?

There's a reason why Xiaomi moved to a 48 MP sensor on the Mi 10 Ultra, and a short trip to YouTube would show that it handily outperforms all Xiaomi's HMX phones.

The HMX is no longer a great sensor. It's worse than the HM1, the GN1, and the OV48C on the Mi 10 Ultra. Even the 12 MP IMX555 on the S20/+ is a better sensor, talk less of the IMX700 on the P40 Pro.

AFAIK HMX is only HM1 with a different CFA(actually HM1 is HMX with a different CFA, in order of release), the more sensible one I'd argue. I don't know why you call it worse than HM1.

Bigger pixel size is so mple answer to quality colors, but on phones with limited size and a lot of computing, using hi res multibayer, color sensors etc. is way better as you can calibrate color output and stack multiple exposures at once which is way impossible on simple sensor without lag. Maybe not on sunny day but in bad lightning it's lagging then even with faster readout.
Sensor tech would help also if there is hdr raw, as to improve proffesional side. Funnily google is faster in that sense than Sony, they already got hdr raw.
Will be better 8K I hope, looks awesome.

I really don't know where you get the idea that the HM1 is better than HMX?? You're the only person ever who claims that.
And yes, as the previous comment says, the HM1 is basically the same as the HMX, just has different 9:1 binning.

If you read and watch many various camera comparisons (in depth and with high res photos to compare the details) between Note Ultra 20 and Mi 10 Pro or Mi 10T Pro, you'll see that both Mi's have MUCH better picture quality (I'm talking about the main camera, not zoom or ultrawide).

In short, and to agree with everyone else here - the claim that the HMX sensor is "aging" is not just innacurate, but it's so "rolls eyes" kind of a comment that it cannot be taken seriously.
And it's also lowering the repuatition of this site, which is known for its amazing in depth reviews.
