The new Vermeer CPU from AMD, the Ryzen 5 5600X, has made a strong showing in the latest Mindfactory CPU sales data that covers Black Friday. The Zen 3 chip joins 12 other AMD processors in outselling every single Intel part on the list. Additionally, 2,290 units of the top-selling Ryzen 5 3600XT were purchased in comparison to just 290 Intel Core i5-10400F processors.

It isn't a secret that Intel concentrated on its laptop chips while ramping up their 10nm.  Their desktop chips stayed on the Skylake cores and 14nm for several years.

However, that all starts to change with Rocket Lake-S moving to a backported Sunny Cove core design.  Soon after Intel plans to introduce an Alder Lake-S chip built with 10ESF.  Also a Tiger Lake-H chip is coming, supposedly in 1H 2021, with more PCIE4 lanes and more cores than Tiger Lake-U and a higher TDP.

So it is very likely we'll see Intel reverse any desktop market share that they've ceded during the 10nm issues.

And AMD will just let them take back the crown without putting up a fight, right?  :-\

MicroCenter restocks 5800x constantly.  In-store purchase only though.

Intel is probably doomed as Apple has stopped using Intel x86 chips for future Macs. Expect this to spill over to the Windows world in future, whether you like it or not.

That means AMD (Ryzen) is also doomed. Sorry, AMD fanboys.

All your enthusiast esports gaming demands will not change this fact.

AMD will probably team up with Samsung to make the GPU for Exynos. The rest of the Android world uses whatever Qualcomm throws at them, and Apple continues to do its own thing. Huawei is a condemned company, that's what you get for defying sanctions and trading with Iran, so forget about Kirin chips.

So, what are we going to run in our computers? Snapdragons? That future is far from certain. And is certainly not imminent. Who knows whether they can manage to stay ahead of Qualcomm. We'll see how close the 888 gets.
