Google is introducing 20 Gbps Internet connections over "beams of light" for Sub-Saharan countries

If satellites and atmospheric balloons are simply too expensive to boost Internet signals across the world, Google now plans to use light beams to connect underdeveloped areas. The first country to benefit from wireless optical networks is Kenya, and the connections can reach 20 Gbps speeds, but are limited to a 20 Km radius.

Might be a nice idea, but when rainy season hits light transmission will fail.  But perhaps it's better than nothing.

That's real nice Google how about giving that internet to a rural areas in the United States first before giving other countries like Africa internet first before us the American people I know a lot of people that live in rural areas that get really crappy internet or nothing at all help out the people on your home turf first.
