A recent leak of benchmark scores from an unnamed AMD Radeon GPU in Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation may point to how well AMD's upcoming RDNA 2 "Big Navi" graphics cards will perform. While this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, the AMD GPU is about on par with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. However, this puts it roughly 55% behind Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 3080.

AMD doesn't even have to compete with Nvidia with their top tier RTX 3090 or even a RTX 3080 tbh, AMD can just stick with mid/upper tier cards as long as its priced competitively just like they did with their 5700XT. If AMD releases a 6700XT/ 6800XT and its as fast as RTX 2080Ti for under $600, that would be a steal.

Im not sure that under 600 would be a steal to compete with a 2080ti.  The 3070 already is on par possibly besting the 2080ti at 500.

Message from a user who wishes to remain anonymous:
"I've read in other sources that there will be three tiers (at least) of Big Navi GPUs. This looks like it could be data from the lowest tier which may be called the 6700. The 6900 card is supposed to have performance that is significantly higher. Perhaps even between the 3080 and the 3090. Of course, it's all speculation right now.
Either way, the competition between  Nvidia and AMD is a win for the consumer. I have no brand loyalty- whichever one gives me the most performance for the money will be my choice."

I don't have any brand loyalties at all.

How can that be a steal if an RTX 3070  priced at $499 is said to outperform an RTX 2080 Ti?

If we go on AMD history then this would be realistic. I predicted ages ago based on AMD's over hyped cards in the past, that their top tier RDNA2 would be 10-20% more powerful then a 2080ti. But hey, who knows, we will know soon enough. I hope I am wrong. The consoles are an absolute steal, I think that is why Nvidia priced these  so low based on the 2000 series. You can pay $500 for a 3070 or get an entire console for the same price with similar performance. I think a lot of people will jump ship, PC parts are crazy over priced. Plus there is also the fact that leaked benchmarks so far make the 3080 look a bit less impressive than Nvidia is claiming. Its still a big jump though but not quite 2080 + 90%

Ok, just me who think it's stranger a bench of a AMD card with a Intel processor? I mean, if it's was internally it's way easier to use AMD processor right?

Kraken

meh lol,

Might big navi be on par with 2080ti, 3070, 3080, 3090 still have everything to prove as latest  real tests were not as shiny as nvidia pr marketing have shown but more modest 15% increase with NO rtx features turned on yet in game as they were disabled on card. Thats pretty far far faaaaaaaarrrr off +50ish% increase which was mind boggling to begin with as it does not conform to performance increase per gen.

Intrigued by big navi and 3080ti but..... i ll wait for cards release as I m skeptical those are test manipulations for manufacturer benefits and don't reflect anything in reality.

It's not that strange because Intel has better CPU's for gaming. It's normal that AMD would use their competitor's CPU's to test the cards in order for them to show better performance.

Oh no, legacy DX11 doesn't perform well on a card that wasn't designed for it... makes me wonder if the author is an Nvidia fanboy.  You didn't mention that the modern cards don't support Crossfire either, since it's been replaced by DX12 (just like the DX11 has been replaced).

Spunjji

...is it just me, or is this quite obviously not Big Navi?

The performance numbers place it closer to a probable 6700XT - i.e. a straight-up replacement for the 5700XT.

These rumour posts are getting increasingly weak.

Benj

Well the leak also says if you have a look to it that its maybe the smallest AMD card which is already beating the 2080ti and that would be freaking awesome.
