Samsung has launched its 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD that offers a maximum read speed of 7,000 MB/s (1 TB SKU). This means that PC gamers can fit a speedy solid state drive into their machines that challenges the much-heralded superfast SSD that the PS5 will be bringing with it, at least in terms of uncompressed data handling.

Samsung could offer 980 pro at a cheaper price simply because it is using TLC instead of MLC like the ones in 970 pro. I just don't know how much is samsung willing to cut

But in real life performance the current PCIE 3.0 3500MB/s have not been much faster when it comes to game loading compared to standard SSD Data HDD 600MB/s, so games will not benefit on PC same as on PS5 where everything from game optimization to hardware is working together, 7000MB/s only good for transfer speeds.

QD32 4K... What's that like database performance? How about QD1-4 like one might see on a desktop?

Max speed for data transfer means little if games are still built to support rotating HDD. Games will load fast on PC but you'll still get loading screens, and games designed to load lots of data from HDD. On PS5 the developer knows they won't need loading screens and can push data around nearly instantly, creating games you just can't do on PC with an equivalent SSD drive.
