Some Dell XPS 15 9500 machines may have a display hinge issue

Wobbly trackpads may have affected multiple early XPS 15 9500 units, but it has emerged that others will not stay closed when they are picked up. Picking up some XPS 15 9500 machines causes their display lid to pop open, almost as if no magnets are holding them in place. Dell is yet to acknowledge the issue publicly, but there are multiple examples of it spread across Dell Community and Reddit forums.

Just a few corrections regarding the trackpad mention - You say early units but this is incorrect.  Units as recent as this week ordered STILL have this issue and it has not been corrected.
This also impacts the 5550 Precision range which is deemed to be the business and more expensive range.

I suspect the hinge issue will also impact this given both share almost the same chassis/components.

Are there any unaffected devices? Act all hinges like that?
Mine acts exactly like the device in the video, but its a 4K panel!

I know of plenty of Ideapads and other very budget-friendly machines that have hinges just like that. It's not a defect but rather the intended design of the hinge (in those cheap models).

Mine had this issue. Also wobbly trackpad despite a custom order and being shipped August 30th.

I returned it for a full refund. At this price I would expect a Macbook Pro like experience, yet Dell delivered a plastic, loose, wobbly, experience.
