Initial benchmarks have revealed just how powerful of an upgrade the AMD Radeon Pro 5600M is for the Apple MacBook Pro 16. According to multiple sources, the new GPU option offers substantial performance gains over the Radeon Pro 5500M and even sees the MacBook Pro 16 eclipsing the RX Vega 56-powered iMac Pro in some tasks.

It would cost more than a 5700XT while beeing much worse.. Would it be worth it, just not to have a power cable ?

Apple is charging for it 700$ more than a 5500M .. now thats a nice premium...

Worth mention that 5600M is around the speed of the 1660ti card which you can found in most 900$ gaming laptops... While apple charging 800$ extra if you upgrade the base model to that, you gonna end up at 3200$...

Idk where idiots like you and Bruno come from. There are XPS 15 4K units as well with prices in the $3,000 range. These laptops clearly target a different kind of user than one buying a $900 laptop for a 1660Ti. If you want to primarily game, nobody is buying an XPS15/ Macbook Pro 16. It's mostly video editors or professionals with mixed usage that need a very portable, very power efficient notebook with a great display and build quality to match.

Second, Apple and Dell work on these product lines within a strict upper limit of 100W TDP, since they should be able to be charged on a flight (which can only provide 100W PD). That is also currently the maximum power delivery for USB-C as well (although custom dell Docks can offer 130W). For this purpose, the GPUs will always use 50W or less on this laptop.

So performance of a 80W 1660Ti / Vega 56 at a ~50W power draw is extremely impressive. You could imagine how good these would do if it had a 90W TDP like a 2070 Max-Q chip, let alone a 2070's 115W. This is also the only laptop you can game on during a long 6-7 hour flight with no performance or battery loss. It also performs at 100% even while on battery for ~1.5 hours-2 hours, which is a far cry from other gaming laptops that throttle down signficantly under battery.

Techie  -  Obviously the 900$ laptop nowhere near the quality of the macbook 16, but they still have the same gpu if you pay an extra 700$ bucks?? ridiculous... macbook 16 is top of the line laptop, offer last gen cpu, slower ram and a GPU for 700 extra with a speed was great 5 years ago. why ? because they can do it, long time ago we looked at macbooks as the best magic laptops, today they became unreliable overpriced laptops with outdated hardware.
