It has been fifteen years since Apple switched from PowerPC to Intel processors. Now, the next paradigm shift is almost upon us, with Apple set to change to ARM processors from as early as 2021. Set to be based on an improved A14 chip, the first ARM-powered MacBook will supposedly exceed all performance expectations.

now the name "macbook" make more sense.
it always pissed me off, this mac vs pc debate because there was no such thing as "mac", just the same pc with another operating system.
pc with linux is still pc, right? why it turnes into "mac" with mac os then?

A Mac is still a PC whether you like it or not, doesn't matter what it's called or what it uses.

This is why mac development system is unique. Application developers who are already using metal + xcode won't need to do much other than minor modifications and let the apple backend system handle the translation from Intel to ARM.
If only Microsoft had not messed up their side with .net and C#....

imagine you are one of the oems. 5.. or 50 alike you around. and then you got the name. and others stayed unnamed. all of you are around the same quality and cost, nothing special.
but every store and every media from now on call your production "YOURcomputer" and other 5..or 50 and their production just "computer". 
question, why your market share is much higher than 1 divided 5..or 50?
so ye it does matter

My guess is that the Axx laptops will be powered by something related
to iPad OS rather than osx and having those two live together for a while before phasing out intel devices / osx


@Sid Not sure what are you implying.  C# / .net is pretty portable to the point you should be able to run the same binaries without recompilation.  The main issues is microsoft using the opportunity to ditch older api's like Apple did with Carbon few years ago.
