An AMD Ryzen 7 4800U has been found on 3DMark's Fire Strike benchmark racking up a terrific Physics Score. The Ryzen 4000 APU managed 18,588 points, which is higher than the median score that we have achieved with devices sporting an Intel Core i9-9880H. However, the Intel chip can utilize a higher power draw than the new Renoir processor from AMD.

Intel 9980H CPU doesn't consume UP TO 45W, but much more! 45W is just a starting point.
Which means that AMD low power U CPU completely obliterates the Intel higher power H CPU when it comes to power efficiency!

Anyone know when the new Thinkpad T14 and T14s with AMD will be available? I have a 7 years old Macbook Pro, and I'm thinking of buying one of them.

The new Ryzen 4000 series will be available  sometime between April- June.

on the other hand, is a crazy good read

Excellent.  I would love to get one of these 4800u chips in a 15" ultrabook from MSI.    I'd say from Asus as well, but they keep trying to cram useless numpads in next to the keyboard, or playing with gimmicky and useless extra displays.

I am waiting on those as well. Currently using a 1st gen core i5 Thinkpad. But I may go for the Asus G14 if nothing else with Ryzen 4000 in the 14" size becomes available soon (not much more $ but a lot more powerful than the T14).

Thank you so much for this. I think I managed to get most of the important points (I was reading through google translate). I will probably wait for U-series processors because of their increased performance at lower TDP's. I don't really require the top end performance of the H-series.

I do require some computational power (else, I would have got a new Macbook Air), but a 15W Ryzen should be sufficient. Weight is important for me, as I carry the notebook in my backpack. So, the T14s seems the right choice for me.
