At least three Asus laptops have been listed on the Amazon China website revealing that AMD Ryzen 4000 laptops are finally arriving. The 17.3-inch Asus TUF FA706IU Gaming laptop features the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU while both the 14-inch ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401II and 14-inch ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401IU laptops come with AMD's Ryzen 7 4800HS.

Even tuf series are becoming pricey. Asus should stop giving low colour gamut screen in tuf series laptop.

Hopefully these are initial pricing subject to change cause they make no sense. The tuf with the plastic build quality and similiar specs is not supposed to be in the same price bracket as the relatively premium g14.

laptop consists of dozens of different components, not just cpu.

What is the case for NVDA discrete GPUs vs something from AMD?

I didn't see a 4000 series with no gpu.  What is the case for always including an integrated GPU?

@Jayn - Including a discrete GPU makes sense when it offers a quite superior performance over the internal gpu. But when it offers negligible performance(or no performance benefit at all), it is just a waste of money, space, battery life and etc.

This isn't about Nvidia vs AMD, Intel Ice lake also offers better integrated GPUs then some of the older lower discrete gpus. And as notebookcheck pointed out it is a waste.


As for why you would want to have an integrated gpu even with a discrete one, the answer is simple. Discrete gpus eat up a lot of power. Most gaming computers won't last 2 hours on battery using their discrete gpus. Do you really need the discrete gpu for simple things like web surfing or watching a video? For desktop it might not matter, but for laptop, you wouldn't want anything that isn't an APU.
