Two-decade old SETI@home project going down at the end of the month

This might have passed under the radar of many people, but the fact that the volunteer computing part of the 21-year-old SETI@home project will go into hibernation is quite big news, especially since this amazing effort did not manage to deliver any solid result. However, SETI@home might be reactivated one day.

I wouldn't say it failed to deliver. Silence speaks volumes. The fact that we're unable to find any sign of a technologically advanced life is in itself pretty big. Especially since it seems that life as such might be abundant. It suggests that such life might be very rare, doesn't communicate (or otherwise make its existence apparent) for long or that perhaps quickly goes extinct.
