Dell XPS 13 9300 with bright 16:10 display, but disappointing CPU performance

We just received the entry-level spec SLU of the brand-new Dell XPS 13 9300. The highlight is the return of the 16:10 display, but the processor performance is worse compared to the previous model.

Make sure your using the high performance power plan in Dell's power command software, it makes a ton of difference when benchmarking.

I notice some users report problems attaching an eGPU or TB3 monitor to the laptop. Are you able to test this?

Also, any issues with modern standby or sleep mode on this device? Is there s3 sleep?

1920x1200 is called WUXGA, not FHD+. As I understand it, the plus means that the display has 1080 lines (in landscape orientation, that's what the FHD brings) but is wider than 1920 (that's the plus). Which is not this case at all.

I browsed Geekbench a little bit for evidence, I see 9300 is on par with 7390 and 9370 (Comet Lake 4core), but I guess one run is not a good data point.

This is a pretty funny statement to me, since the base model MacBook Pro (with a design introduced in 2016 and a 8th gen CPU) already beats this brand new XPS in many areas (performance, trackpad, audio, a WORKING sleep mode) and will soon be completely updated with a whole new design.

To me, it looks like Dell tried to completely emulate Apple with this device (the hinge is pretty much a copy of the one introduced in MacBooks in 2016 while the 16:10 screen, the quiet fan and the higher price complete the package), but apparently the result is a bit disappointing.

apple broke marketing laws and human brain.
before jobs: prestigious meant something rare and expensive.
after jobs: prestigious means the same as everyone else and affordable.
apple logo and brand is all that matters.
so, most of apple users are brainwashed illogical zombies. it has noting to do with quality. lets say mercedes cars are better than nissan, but there is no zombies on car market, people are fine with nissan.
i like some apple products but there is no chance i'd buy them. because it's a shame. people would think i am a braindead dork. :)
