Better than foldables? TCL first to launch a phone with slide-out screen

Instead of going the foldable way, TCL is experimenting with some other ways to implement flexible screens. The slide-out concept essentially provides the same screen estate but without the awful crease in the middle and possibly reinforcing the durability of the flexible screen. One downside for this design could be the slightly thicker handsets.

Was wondering the same thing. Maybe there's a click at the end of the slide that lifts it onto the same level. Wonder if they can do this without leaving a gap of a pixel or two between the main screen and slide screen.

There shouldn't be two screens, the main screen should be a partially unrolled flexible screen, the slide screen should be the rest of that screen unrolled from a spool.
