Skip the Razer Blade Stealth Ice Lake base model and just go for the older GeForce MX150 model instead

The best part about Ice Lake is that some older Whiskey Lake models have become great deals. Not only is the MX150 model cheaper and graphically superior, it's also thinner. Ice Lake CPU performance is only marginally faster than the i7-8565U in the last generation model while being 30 to 35 percent slower or more than the GeForce MX150. The Core i7-1065G7 CPU advantage doesn't outweigh the GPU disadvantage by a long shot.

I owned the MX150 model, so I feel like I can best offer some insight. For starters, I returned it for the $1499 base ice lake model, and here's why;

1. The color. Unlike black, The mercury white looks classy and reminds me of an older Apple powerbook, not to mention it doesnt attract fingerprints and oils like the black one does.

2. The MX150 honestly is a terrible GPU. Though it's better than nothing, it didn't have much to offer in terms of performance and really just ended up a battery hog. The new base model Stealth's Iris graphics are much better than UHD, and I'm happy to have it in this form factor because it's more balanced and offers much better battery life.

3. LPDDR4X and 802.11AX on the base mercury model, vs 802.11AC and LPDDR3

4. Mercury model sports a 25W i7 vs the 15W i7 in all of the MX150/1650 models.

Yes, it's expensive, but the competition for the same specs and build quality isn't any better.
