Trinity-ThinkPad. Lenovo expands the Thinkpad Edge series with another model that has AMD parts on the inside. Within the case of the Thinkpad Edge E535 is an APU from AMD's current Trinity-Generation. We test if the device is any good.

For God Shake: difficult to understand with Single-Channel Memory setup your framerates will be cut in half?
And if you've already removed the backplate, would be to much effort to add one more Memory Stick?

I bought the A8-4500m model and added some DDR3-1866...unfortunately it seems this configuration only supports DDR3-1600. Going into Dual Channel mode SIGNIFICANTLY boosted GPU performance ~ under Windows Experience Index, my machine now gets 5.9, which is limited by the HDD. Graphics are now both 6.8

I am looking at the base model of either the e535 or the e530 (Pentium / AMD A-Series A4-4300M) which would be better? I am a student just about to start my GCSEs and need a laptop for word and the basic stuff and maybe some programming software and things like autocad. I already have a good desktop so it is not a replacement.
Thanks, Sam  :)

As for gaming: the cheaper Lenovo IdeaPad N586 Notebook with the weaker A6-4400M and the integrated HD 7520G beats the pants of off this cousin in gaming, which has the stronger AMD A8-4500M-APU and the HD 7640g. Don't believe: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Lenovo-IdeaPad-N586-Notebook.83432.0.html , which kind of amazes me that dual RAM can make such a huge difference.
