I always seem to get a good laugh when the more "traditional" laptop manufacturers like Toshiba, HP, or Lenovo try to make a move on the gaming market. The result is always an overpriced (and for the HP Omen: overmarketed) pile of junk.

These companies persistently skimp on cooling, cut on maintainability, and throw a load of unnecessarily garish design elements into the mix as if they were MSi in 2011... Except unlike MSi they are horribly overpriced.

If you want a gaming laptop, stay with the old guard.

That is good to hear. I look forward to seeing the review of the 17 inch model.  8)

A review of the 17-inch-version will follow.

A useful review of a product which seems somewhat underwhelming.

I realize that Notebookcheck reviews the models made available by the manufacturer, but I was surprised to see a 15 inch model reviewed rather than a 17 inch model. From my perspective, a 15 inch model is a budget machine, not something that I would buy as a gaming laptop.

Beast of prey. Following the extremely successful V 15 Nitro, Acer presents its next gaming platform. Instead of an upper mid-range GPU, a genuine premium model is in the Predator 15. Can the GTX 980M stand up against the 15-inch competition?
