I bought it for it's long battery life and quietness, since I just needed something low end to use at school and exams, and it does deliver on that. I knew touchpad and screen would be bad, but was still surprised just how bad they were.
Pros: - It's nice looking. - Convenient compact size, without being too small to work with. - Very quiet. - Good battery life.
Cons: - Terrible touchpad. Every time I lift my finger from it, the pointer moves, making it hard to place it precise. - Really poor screen. - Insane amount of bloatware, that makes it run poorly, and takes a lot of effort to get rid of, since uninstall will fail many times. This is however common on many laptops, unfortunately.
Had a very bad experience with the model, i have V3 371 512L, though the price is cheap, it is actually better to avoid buying this laptop if you are a serious user. My esc key on the keyboard got stuck with just one single keypunch on day one itself and had to get the laptop replaced. After two months the touchpad went bad..it would respsond erraticaly or no reponse at all. It took ACER - Middle East 15 days to return the laptop after replacing the touch pad, now the touch pad looks diffenrent from the original color and the texture is ultra smooth, hence making it look even more filmsy. Regret buying this laptop, I went by Acers reputation for good laptops and realized the truth,..it is not worth it.
I wish I have read this article before I bought this superficial product. It looks great but it has serious connectivity problems. This thing does not connect to the internet! What can you do with a computer with wifi problems? it's completely useless no matter how great it looks or how high its performance. This is the worst laptop I have ever bought and I returned it today. If you want to use internet, don't buy it. (More importantly this thing sometimes connect to the internet, so when you buy it it might work but it disconnects every ten minutes, very annoying. If you take it to the service, it might work for a while and they can't see the problem. I know that my wifi connection is not the problem, while my good old Dell connects to internet with no problem this thing's internet connection goes on and off sporadically...)
I am having the same touchpad issue. I had it on the first model I bought and I returned it, then they gave me a brand new identical model and it had the same problem!! So I am sure it is a flaw with the hardware design of the laptop. The issue didn't arise until a couple days after I started using it, so I am assuming it is a connectivity issue with the touchpad.
You've written that there's no maitenance hatch. Does that mean that there is no possibility to add more RAM or replace hard drive? I'm asking because a few stores in my country state that there is extra memory slot for RAM (there are 2 and one is already used), which should mean that futher improvement should be possible.
Got stamina? The first thing you notice about this flat 13.3-inch notebook is its white case, but its most striking feature lies elsewhere: The Aspire V3-371 provides very good battery life at a moderate price. But is the Aspire a persuasive offer overall? Our review reveals the answer.
