Dell is the ultimate brand, enduring over time. I have upgraded my laptop and continue to stick with this brand. Thanks for the very detailed information of Dell Latitude E6440 Notebook

I've had my E6440 i7 for approx. 6 months, and have had no issues since. With my Samsung SSD it boots incredibly quick, and the whole system is very responsive. Also used it for intermediate gaming and it worked well with the dual video. Can't say how the i5 compares, but my i7 is all i want/need.

Kind of odd that the I5 model was the only one reviewed, as I am looking at on to purchase with an  i7 [4610M] processor, which has four cores, and would leave this one in the dirt. Acoording to the article's opening the I& is only in a 6540: WRONG.

Strange that in the whole review you did not detect serious issue confirmed by Dell. They are replacing all the motherboards in this machine

I use the e6440 at work....locks up constantly....tried to get dell to help and nothing but the same answers....nothing wrong with it.....our old Panasonic tough books never had these issues!! nothing but an expensive paper weight

Are you certain about the 3 years warranty time, that is applies also after buying the laptop? Did you check it using the service tag before and after sales It appears that Dell has been cutting half their warranty times after the purchase.

Did you noticed that Dell "degraded"  the display lid  build quality  compared to E6x30 series? The lid is is similiar to E7440, so it is thinner, has shorter borders (2cm --> 1 cm), but the material is "only" aluminium, i guess. The former lid is from the TriMetal alloay as the case, and is more tersion resistant, because of :
- the new lid is "simply" said just a 2D plate, but the former lid bends  90° to the front, swich improves stability.
- the bottom side of the  former lid is 1cm wide and is totally rigid, but in the new lid is no such inforcement.

Just compare the images

We are purchased about 50 of these in the last month or two and finding 1 out of 10 bad out of the box with an additional 4 or 5 three suffering from component failure. Getting pretty close to an unacceptable defect rate regardless how good the specs look..

"Temperatures on the other hand are more worrying: Up to 96 °C (204.8 °F) for the Core i5-4300M." -- Was there any follow-up done on this?  Did Dell comment?

Understatement with security. Reliability and security are probably the two most important things for business users. This should also apply for their notebooks, and Dell's Latitude-series earned a good reputation. The Dell Latitude E6440 wants to continue this tradition – our review shows the strengths and weaknesses of the new model.
