So I agree the +port usb from Mobile Design labs makes the Dell Venue and awesome value.  I run a 55" monitor with a USB to HDMI adapter--many out there for about $45.00.  Unit stays charged as long as it is plugged into the plus port.

There's a major flaw with the USB design on this tablet. It ships with a micro A socket, and micro B plug. The plug can easily go in the wrong way, and will go in almost all the way, and for a lot of people, they try exerting a little force to push it in properly, and break the socket.

There's numerous threads on this:

I ended up doing no research before I bought mine because I wanted to get a deal from dell outlet when they were selling for $160-$170. In every other way, it's a superior device at that price, but the charger issue is a fatal flaw.

Full USB and Charging at the same time...

This looks awesome since it runs full Windows 8. One CON that I see and have read elsewhere is that you can't connect a dock or peripheral and charge the Venue at the same time.

I wasn't going to buy it because of the charging/docking issue but yesterday I found this link - http://kck.st/1fIi06H for a device that simply connects between your charger and tablet. The device lets you charge (at full rate) and gives you an extra USB port to connect a dock, hub, or whatever peripheral you want. I'm going to pre-order one. I just thought I would share in case others have run into this same issue.

+port plus port

Is this confirmed to work with the Venue 8 Pro?

Pretty interesting to compare to lenovo counterpart. z3740 vs z3740d. z3740 approach using slower 1066 dual-channel RAM seems to take some advantage over faster 1333 single-channel of dell's RAM. BTW there is an error re 1600 ddr ram - please fix.

you can improve the speed of the storage by removing the encryption and also going into bios and switching to HS200 for the internal flash and even HD50 for the external SD card

go to tabletpcreview forums for instructions

8-inch versatility. The Dell Venue 8 Pro is an 8-inch tablet based on Intel's current-generation Atom processor.  Does the pint-sized Windows 8.1 tablet, which  comes with MS Office free of charge, really enhance productivity and is it a worthwhile investment?
